Venezuela, my homeland, is enduring a challenging era marked by hyperinflation, corruption, and socio-political turmoil, conditions that have persisted for two decades. These adversities often overshadow the authentic beauty and rooted culture of its communities, resulting in the loss of belonging and optimism for what lies ahead. Yet these experiences are not isolated to Venezuela; especially today as countries across the globe face unparalleled challenges. Amidst this global context, the power of the people and communities to create the change and progress they wish to experience in their nation becomes increasingly significant.
As a Venezuelan designer, I have sought to explore how graphic design can act as a vital partner in the development and rejuvenation of a country, supporting communities and spearheading initiatives focused on social welfare in an effort to rise from adversity. In this sense, graphic design stands out as a powerful catalyst for progress, offering innovative ways to dignify spaces, unite communities, and foster hope.
Libera, a non-profit organization founded on the methodology of collaborative graphic design for good, aims to serve as an active partner for communities and institutions by transforming their visions into impactful realities. With this new pursuit I aim to explore the ways graphic design can serve as a transformative force in societies like Venezuela, where the urgency for change and progress is palpable.
By harnessing the power of graphic design, it becomes plausible to rekindle hope and nurture a collective aspiration for a brighter future, especially for nations that have faced extreme challenges. This new organization is dedicated to providing graphic design services and solutions universally accessible to various entities, including companies, foundations, organizations, small businesses, and local communities committed to the progress and positive development of the nation.
