Let's delve into your methodology for designing with communities. Can you elaborate on your foundational approach?

RM: Of course. Our fundamental approach is all about entering each project with what I like to call 'open ears.' This means much more than just listening; it's about genuine understanding and empathy. We strive to perceive beyond the apparent, exploring the nuances at the edges of the communities we work with. It requires a heart full of curiosity, akin to an investigative journalist, where the goal is to unearth truths by genuinely wanting to learn and connect on a deeper level with the community's essence.

L: Transitioning insights into visual design can be challenging. How do you ensure these visuals resonate deeply with the community?

RM: It's indeed a complex task, akin to solving a multifaceted puzzle. The key lies in immersing ourselves within the community to gather a rich tapestry of insights. This deep dive reveals recurring themes and patterns, reflecting the community's diverse demographics. Importantly, focusing on youth provides a lens to the future, considering their aspirations and visions. Through this process, the visual design begins to naturally emerge, reflecting the community's collective identity and aspirations.
